Verizon purportedly giving DROID 4, RAZR and Rezound ‘global’ designation via software update

There’s one major drawback that jet-setters and globetrotters utilizing one of Verizon’s current LTE handsets must deal with: the lack of a GSM radio frequency. It’s true, while CDMA and LTE have carved out a place for themselves here in the States, when the rubber literally meets the road (or tarmac), it’s a GSM world we’re living in. With that in mind, it appears as though Verizon is planning to make several of its current smartphones a bit more cosmopolitan by enabling the “global” capabilities already embedded within. Blog Droid-Life is reporting that new in-store collateral for the DROID 4, RAZR and Rezound contains the tagline, “Coming Soon: Use in an additional 185 countries.” The new proficiency should be made available via a software mise à jour pushed out by Big Red, although some of you may have already taken matters into your own hands. No word on what the precise definition of “soon” est, but we’ve reached out to Verizon for comment and will mise à jour this post with any relevant information provided.

Données illimité de Verizon ne besoin pas fin pour vous

This week we’re feeling the firestorm that’s surrounded Verizon’s double-announcement that they’d be effectively doing away with Unlimited Data plans by the end of this summer – but the whole truth is not that simple. Where many would read that headline and immediately assume Verizon was taking their precious away from them, there’s no reason to fret if you’re the sort of person that doesn’t want (or need) to pick up a new smartphone every couple of years. Instead this new deal from Verizon allows you to stay on the phone you’re on OR upgrade to an unsubsidized phone if you like, all the while letting you stick with your grandfathered plan – and it’s not just 3G.

Verizon Unlimited Data addressed in official statement

This morning Verizon has released an official statement on what was said yesterday by the company’s CFO in regards to the end of Unlimited Data plans for smartphones and tablets. This statement assures the public that no hard and fast plans have been announced for current or prospective customers other than their current data sharing project already in the works now for some time. This statement comes aside comments made this week which seemed to effectively kill unlimited data on Verizon for grandfathered-in utilisateurs.

Verizon pour tuer des plans bénéficiant de droits acquis de données illimité avec mises à niveau de 4 G

Verizon Wireless plans to eliminate its $30 per month unlimited data plan that it provides to customers who subscribed to the plan prior to the company’s transition to tiered data plans last July, Fierce Wireless reported on Wednesday. Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said at the 40th J.P. Morgan Technology, Media and Telecom conference that once unlimited 3G data plan customers upgrade to 4G LTE, they will have to purchase the company’s shared data plan. “Everyone will be on data share,” Shammo said. The carrier’s shared data plans are scheduled to launch in the coming months, and will allow utilisateurs to share a single pool of data between multiple devices. “If I can add as many devices as I want, that is more efficient from a family perspective and a small business perspective,” the CFO said. When asked how Verizon will migrate customers off their unlimited data plans, Shammo said that LTE will draw customers away from it. “A lot of our 3G base is on unlimited,” he said. “When they migrate off 3G they will have to go to data share. That is beneficial to us.”

Verizon CFO tue données illimité pour moderniser le LTE

This week at the 40th J.P. Morgan Technology, Media and Telecom conference, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said that the company would have all grandfathered 3G unlimited data plans migrating to 4G turned away from unlimited data in the very near future. Ce mise à jour will have the original $30 a month plan axed entirely for those making the switch, avec utilisateurs wishing to stay on 3G continuing to keep their unlimited plans for the foreseeable future. By mid-summer, all 3G mise à jour candidates to 4G will be on the company’s data-share plan.

Use the SIM from a Verizon iPad for a data-only plan on your smartphone

The new iPad launched supporting both AT&T and Verizon, as it did with the previous model. The big difference with carrier support with the third-generation offering was the addition of LTE to both devices. For the AT&T version, it was business as usual, only faster. But to support LTE with the Verizon model, a SIM card had to be added to the DISPOSITIF.
