Intel wants to have conflict-free processors by the end of 2013
Intel had already promised that it would avoid using conflict minerals, and now it’s giving itself a more concrete timetable for that to happen. It wants to have at least one processor that’s proven completely conflict-free across four key minerals — gold, tantalum, tin and tungsten — by the end of 2013. Lest you think Intel’s not taking swift enough action, it wants to reach the tantalum goal by the end of this year. The effort’s part of a wider array of goals that should cut back on the energy use, power and water use by 2020. Sooner rather than later, though, you’ll be buying a late-generation Haswell- or Broadwell-based PC knowing that the chip inside was made under nobler conditions.

Intel goes tiger dancing in bizarre Ultrabook promo
Intel’s ultrabook marketing strategy has taken a turn for the bizarre, with the chip company looking to a dancing moon tiger – and, at a recent Japanese press event, a group of 100 backup dancers – to push the MacBook Air rivals. While in North America and Europe, Intel has generally been focusing on how thin ultrabooks are, without necessarily sacrificing power, in Japan a somewhat more unusual campaign has rolled out. Toshiba dynabook Satellite B351 15.6-Inch Notebook
Toshiba will launch a new 15.6-inch notebook into the market called the dynabook Satellite B351. The system will feature a 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 LCD display, a 1.60GHz Intel Celeron B815 processor, an Intel HM65 Express Chipset, a 2GB DDR3 RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a DVD Super Multi Drive, WiFi and run on windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (SP1) OS. The dynabook Satellite B351 will go on sale from late April for 59,800 Yen (about $712). [

Toshiba dynabook Satellite B241 14-inch Notebook
Here’s a look at another upcoming 14-inch notebook from Toshiba, the dynabook Satellite B241. The system will feature a 14-inch 1366 x 768 LCD display, a 1.60GHz Intel Celeron B815 processor, an Intel HM65 Express chipset, a 2GB DDR3 RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a DVD Super Multi Drive, WiFi and run on windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (SP1) OS. The dynabook Satellite B241 will start shipping from late April for 56,800 Yen (about $684). [
