iPhone 5 launch safe despite Qualcomm 28nm delays claims analyst

apple‘s next-gen iphone launch plans won’t be waylaid by Qualcomm’s 28nm chip shortages, analysts believe, with the iphone 5 still on track for a predicted October debut. ”The bottom line is that we remain comfortable with an October iphone 5 launch despite the reported 28nm chip shortage at Qualcomm” apple-obsessed Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster wrote in an investor note today, apple Insider reports, with suggestions that the Cupertino company could rely on its “favored inventory status” to ensure sufficient supply.

Diablo III Real-Money Auction House second launch date set

Its official: Blizzard and Battle.NET have announced that Diablo III’s new Real-Money Auction House will be launching on the 29th of May. This comes after a bit of a delay in which the auction house was going to be launched on the 22nd of this month but was pushed back due to unforeseen circumstances. Due to the extremely volatile nature of a real-money set of exchanges here in the next-level auction house for Diablo III in-game items, Blizzard has let the world know that they’re sparing no expense making sure the launch goes smoothly.

SpaceX historic ISS launch streams live from NASA

Starting this afternoon we’ll we’ll be keeping our eyes toward the heavens as the historic International Space Station-bound launch of the SpaceX program streams live via NASA‘s own video portal. This launch will take place at 4:55 a.m. EDT and will be inside what’s called an “Instantaneous Launch Window” – this essentially meaning that if they can’t get a perfect launch time, they’ve got to move to their backup date, May 22nd in this case. This mission is important to the history of space travel and science in general because it will be the first Commercial Company ever to send a spacecraft to the International Space Station – and we can’t wait to see it go well!

Space X's Dragon launch... is go! (Update)

We’re crossing our fingers and toes so hard we can barely type and walk, since it looks like the oft-delayed Dragon launch will take place tomorrow. SpaceX founder Elon Musk confirmed that the company had passed final launch review with NASA and that everything was set for the Falcon 9 to lift off at 4:15AM ET on May 19th. The lift-off will be broadcast live from the official website and is on course to be the first private spaceflight to dock and deliver essential supplies to the International Space Station. For our part? We wish the craft (and the ground crew) all the best and hope it’s a perfect flight — we wanna stay in a space hotel sooner rather than later.

Facebook Pages Manager for iOS sees soft launch, stats junkies rejoiceFacebook Pages Manager for iOS sees soft launch, stats junkies rejoice

If you’re pining for another way to keep tabs on your Facebook pages while out and about, you’re in luck — that is, if you live in Australia, New Zealand or Ireland. Stealthily launched yesterday for iOS, Facebook’s Page Manager app lets administrators keep an eye on page-specific notifications and Page Insight (read: number of likes, shares, views, et cetera) in addition to the normal management fare already available in Facebook’s official app. For those in other territories dreaming of using the app, hope is not lost. As a late addition to Ireland’s iTunes’ Store after its initial appearance for Aussies, it looks like the app is following protocol by holding out on most of the world with its initial launch. As for page owners wielding other operating systems, there’s no word on when your app’s coming down the chute.

FlashTray Pro: Launch Applications, Folders, URLs & More via System Tray Or Hotkeys

Shortcut managers, application launchers and context menu editors all have one thing in common: they all simplify and enhance your windows experience. In earlier posts, we have covered a lot of applications that allow you to easily access different programs and menus through hotkeys, right click context menus, or the system tray. Today, we have another application launcher and hotkey macro utility called FlashTray Pro, which allows you to instantly launch applications, files, folders, URLs and system options from the system tray menu. Moreover, the application has a collection of small utilities, including a Color Picker, Character Map, screen Magnifier, Calendar Studio and windows Sizer. The shortcuts can be accessed from both the system tray as well as through user-defined hotkeys.

Set iOS 5.1 Camera Grabber To Launch Any App With GrabberApp [Cydia]Set iOS 5.1 Camera Grabber To Launch Any App With GrabberApp [Cydia]

Back before the release of iOS 5.1, we covered a Cydia tweak named AnyAppLock (reviewed here), which simply allowed users to replace the iphone lockscreen camera button with a shortcut to any app of their choice. A lot has changed since then, and camera grabber has taken the place of the camera button on iphone’s lockscreen. This implies that now we need a new Cydia tweak that can launch an app (other than the stock camera) when the grabber is slid upwards. Fortunately, such a tweak has already arrived in the iOS jailbreak store, and is named GrabberApp. Even if you haven’t updated to iOS 5.1 yet, the tweak can still be of use to you, as it will add the camera grabber to your lockscreen first, and then allow you to program it to open any app you want. Head past the break to know all about GrabberApp, the useful new tweak in the Cydia store.

CornerClick: Assign Any App, File Or Action To Mac Hot Corners

The default Hot Corners in OS X Lion allow you to start the screensaver, disable it, launch Mission Control, View application windows, Desktop, Launchpad or put your system to sleep. Barring the screensaver, you can perform these functions via gestures as well (provided you have a Trackpad). What would have been more useful is to be able to launch any app using one of these Hot Corners. CornerClick is a free Mac app that lets you do just that. You can pick any one of the four Hot Corners, and associate it with a file, an app or multiple apps. When you drag your mouse to the specified corner and click it, the apps or files you’ve associated with it are launched.
