ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity Series hits the FCC

Remember that high-resolution variant of the Transformer Prime ASUS trotted out at CES? The federal government just finished putting it through its paces. The WiFi version of the firm’s upcoming Transformer Pad Infinity (formally numbered TF700T) sauntered its way through the FCC, revealing itself as the slate’s Tegra 3 option, if only for its lack of having a cellular radio. The tablet’s LTE equipped sibling, however, was nowhere to be found — though we’re sure the feds will put it through the official gauntlet soon enough. Hit the source link below to dive into the official report.

AMD launches R-Series chip for next-gen casinos, surveillance systems, distractions
![]()

While others push for ever-smaller processors to power the so-called Internet of Things, AMD’s new R-Series chips are designed to go the other way: upgrading devices that are already hooked up but that could benefit from more graphical whizz. These embedded processors have the same Piledriver and Radeon HD 7000 internals as their Trinity cousins, but they’re intended for digital billboards, casino gaming, payment systems and other applications that need to present a pretty picture to the end-user. In addition to visuals, they can also use their built-in GPUs to speed up encryption / decryption and support parallel-processing tasks like medical imaging, multi-camera surveillance and, you know, serious stuff. A number of manufacturers have already adopted the new chips, but perhaps the only place you’re likely to be aware that you’re using one is if you happen to buy an R-Series equipped mini-ITX motherboard.

Acer outs Ivy Bridge-packing TravelMate P243 notebook series in the UK

Needless to say, Ivy Bridge is here to stay — at least until Intel takes us on a different road. That being said, Acer just announced a business-oriented machine of its own with Intel’s latest chips onboard. Part of the outfit’s TravelMate lineup, this 14-inch (1366 x 768) P243 rocks some pretty standard features, including a Core i5, Ivy Bridge processor, an HD webcam for all those Skype calls and a USB 3.0 port. As expected, depending on configuration, you’ll also be able to choose up to 8GB of RAM, as well as NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics if you don’t mind shelling out the extra cash. Speaking of, Acer’s pricing the TravelMate P243 starting at £339 (about $536) once it hits UK shelves — though, there’s no word on when that’ll be. In the meantime, you can check out some additional eye candy after the break.

Visualized: What the new Samsung Series 9 could have looked like

In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve gotten multiple opportunities to talk shop with Samsung executives over the past couple days. After we finished grilling the R&D team on higher-res displays, we sat down with the designers behind the latest Series 9 Ultrabooks, and they surprised us by whipping out a late-stage prototype — aka, a glimpse at what these laptops might have been, were it not for a little extra hemming and hawing and at least one executive veto. You know what they say: a picture tells a thousand words, and we’ve got quite a few embedded below for your viewing pleasure. If you’re obsessed with minutiae like the keyboard backlighting color, however, follow past the break for more on all those rejected design ideas, and feel free to let us know in the comments which ones you would’ve preferred.

theRenamer: Correctly Rename TV Shows And Movies via Drag & Drop

TV Series like game of Thrones and Modern Family, are highly watched all over the world these days. Some people watch them on TV, others stream it from the internet, while another group of people like to download/ rip the TV Series and and store it in their hard drive. However, when downloading or ripping a complete season or some episodes of TV Series, a very common issue that comes up is of file names. Everyone likes to keep their local files named according to their own personal preference of naming format. Some people like to keep only the season and episode number, while others want the complete episode title in the file name. Editing each file manually and renaming it can be quite a tedious task. Previously, we have covered a very useful tool to rename episodes of TV series, called Name My TV Series, which is a multi-platform application to easily and quickly rename the locally available TV Series. Today, we have another software which performs the same function but in an even easier way. theRenamer is an application for windows that lets you automatically rename your TV Series, as well as movies, allowing you to organize them in your hard drive. More on theRenamer after the break.
